Yellow Belt Training & Certification Program for an Australian Government Competition Regulator
A department at an Australian government competition regulator needed a way to improve how teams understood and managed business processes. As the division took on more complex work, it became clear that staff required a stronger grasp of process thinking and better tools for problem-solving. There was also a need to create more structure and consistency in the way tasks were completed across teams. Without this, inefficiencies persisted, and improvements were difficult to sustain.
Solution
To equip staff with the right skills we designed and delivered a Business Process Management (BPM) awareness course for over 40 employees. This gave teams a clearer understanding of their workflows and how they could be improved.
For a more hands-on approach, we provided two-day Operational Excellence training programs, focusing on Lean, Six Sigma, and Agile methodologies empowering them to lead process improvements within their teams.
To ensure lasting impact, we introduced Visual Management Boards (VMBs), allowing teams to track progress, identify inefficiencies, and continuously refine their workflows. These boards provided a centralised way to monitor improvements and keep process optimisation top of mind.
Results
The impact of the training was immediate and measurable. Process improvements led to over $400,000 in efficiency gains, demonstrating the power of structured problem-solving in streamlining operations. The division also saw a 97% improvement in process completion rates, reducing delays and ensuring smoother workflows across teams.
Beyond the numbers, the program established a culture of continuous improvement, with a structured process governance framework now in place to sustain long-term benefits. Through embedding BPM methodologies into daily operations, the department is now better equipped to manage change, improve efficiency, and maintain high standards of service delivery.
